Zithromax

Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic manufactured by Pfizer. It is sold under many generic names, the most common of which being Azithromycin. It is commonly prescribed for the treatment of bacterial lung infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis. It is also widely used in the treatment of bacterial skin and ear infections, as well as sexually transmitted diseases. It cannot be used to treat viral infections, such as the common cold or the flu, but your doctor should be able to tell you if Zithromax would be helpful in treating your symptoms.

Zithromax is used for five days, which is half the amount of time of most other antibiotics. The first day a double dose is usually given, followed by single doses for four days. A five-day dose in stores usually costs around $85-$90. However, a five-day dose of generic Azithromycin is only around $10-$20 in stores. When buying online the price drops dramatically, and you can purchase a 5-day dose of the Zithromax Pfizer product at the same price as the generic pills are sold in stores. If you purchase larger amounts, the price dramatically drops per dose.

Zithromax is not without side effects. It can sometimes cause jaundice or other liver problems. If it has ever caused these problems for you before, do not take Zithromax again. Allergic reactions can also occur. In 2013, the FDA released a statement claiming that for the time while Zithromax is in the body, there can be a risk to cardiovascular health. They advise that people suffering from diabetes, abnormal heart rhythm, and other cardiovascular diseases, as well as those who have suffered a heart attack not take Zithromax.

While taking Zithromax, your skin can commonly become more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to avoid tanning beds and wear sunscreen. Antacids can reduce the efficacy of Zithromax, so be certain to avoid them while undergoing treatment with Zithromax.
